Anatomy — how you are actually assessed

Taken from the Anatomy syllabus (code A/A, cycle 2025–2031, §4.2). Several of these differ from the figures in circulating study summaries; where they do, this page follows the syllabus.

The gate before the exam

Each semester needs 3 colloquia passed, in the form of tests.
Each colloquium is 30 single- or multiple-choice questions.
≥60% of points on each test — not on average.
A failed cycle can be corrected once, within two weeks of the first date. There is one retake date per colloquium.
After that, passing requires the Dean's consent and a committee examination.
Admission to the final exam requires all 6 mid-semester tests passed, attendance, and the semester test from lectures. A negative result in any thematic block means you are not admitted.

Attendance is part of the rule, not a courtesy. Absences need documented sick leave, excused at the first class after the cause ends. Unexcused absences count as failed exercises, and failing to make up exercises prevents you taking the colloquium.

The practical exam

Marked structures must be recognised. You get 30 seconds to give the correct English name, in current anatomical nomenclature.

For one pinned structure you can score a maximum of 2 points — one for the correct Polish name and one for the correct English name. ≥60% of the possible points passes.

Two things that end the year, not just the exam. Students who fail the practical component twice are not eligible for the commission examination, which means failure of the entire academic year. And a student who fails the practical cannot sit the theoretical exam — it is an insufficient grade on the first attempt.

The theoretical exam

100 single- or multiple-choice questions covering all material in the subject programme. 60% of the possible points is required to pass.

Commonly circulated summaries say 60 questions and one minute per structure. Both are wrong: the syllabus says 100 questions and 30 seconds.

Note the gap between 3.0 and 3.5: 69% and 70% are a whole half-grade apart. The spotter drill reports against these same bands.

Challenging a question

Comments on a question's correctness can only be raised during the test — raise your hand, report it, and submit it in writing on the sheet provided. If a substantive error is confirmed the question is cancelled and the percentage thresholds are recalculated against the new total.

270 hours of preparation across roughly 30 teaching weeks is about 9 hours a week on Anatomy alone. That is the syllabus's own estimate, and it is a more honest number than the "50 minutes a day for everything" figure in the circulating summaries.
